History of Coconut School
Coconut school started by a man name Vanday who always riding his bicycle to the Irsland Koh Okhnatey and Silk Ireland (Koh Dach) for his journey every weekend. When He passed by a village called Ronas Village, He saw a lot of children playing on the ground with a dirty clothes. He stop his riding for a short break and start to talk with the children about their daily life and school time, only go to public school no for English part time it far from their home are, said the children. Vanday smile to them and ask, If I will come here every weekend to teach you English free who want to join? Most of them smile and reply they will.
Vanday meet one couple is the house owner and he start to talk to them whiles the children still playing in front of their house. Vanday asked to the couple to rent place with small amount to teach the children for weekend only.
The couple reply very fast that if they not agree still those children come to play at their home so better to allow Vanday to teach the children at their home without charge.
The following week Vanday went again to the Ireland as his promise with the children he brought with him some pencil, A4 paper and other materials. The challenge is come through and the name of the school was given. The children came more than his expectation for first time for teaching, we don’t have chair for children to sit. So the first day we cannot teach them. He ask help from the house owner to look for coconut tree around the village to buy and cut it to small (40-50cm) and we make it for the weekend as a chair for children to sit when they came for English class and the school was called Coconut school. Name given from the children.
